The book is beautiful, my only problem, is the dvd disc, will not play in my computer, the computer says bad disc, and it was a brand new disc, asked for a replacement disc, haven't heard if they will replace the disc. FYI I replaced it, Susanne

There is a popular phrase in the magic community, "If you get one effect (from the book, video, etc...), that you add to your repertoire, then you got your moneys worth." In Making Magic, I didn't just find one, or even two usable effects. I found dozens and dozens. In fact, I suspect that an enterprising magician could easily create an entire professional career, i.e., both a stage and a close-up repertoire from this one book. I have over 600 magic books in my magic library, many of which contain critical theoretical discussions. While Making Magic (the book) is not long on theoretical discussion, I can't think of a single other book that has such a high ratio of usable material. Perhaps this is because of Martin's long, and varied, performance career. Perhaps, it's because Martin applies the magic theories and principles (that are discussed in other books) throughout his work. Or, perhaps Martin is just so darn good, I can't say which, but I am glad that brought so much of his skill and expertise to this book. The magic community is better off for it.

Just received Martin Lewis' Making Magic book. The book is loaded with practical and entertaining effects. All are explained in detail and where props need to be made, all details and even patterns for some are supplied. Anyone who has seen Martin perform will appreciate this release of his very clever and entertaining effects. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Excellent book. Great material for close up, stage and parlor. The explanations are great as well as the illustrations. Nice hard bound book glad to get such a quality book.
